I was walking through a maze of cubicles at work one day and a co-worker stopped me to ask if I had ever written anything (professionally I assume). He asked this question because I had written a couple of emails that were sent to all the employees informing them of the deaths of employees’ family members which he thought were unusually touching. One email was concerning the death of a young woman's baby and the other was about my father's life when he died. This reminded me that I had always wanted to write a book. Maybe a book is too ambitious for a first writing project. Maybe a blog would be a less intimidating place to start. Besides a couple of my friends have blogs that I enjoy visiting. I admire their work very much.
It has been on my heart for some time to start my own blog. I resisted the idea because I did not want to seem like a copy cat. Silly, right? I think that is one of my flaws. I want to be unique. Is that another word for selfish? Does it mean that I want to be the first or only one so I get the glory? How many times have I missed out on a wonderful opportunity God has put on my heart because someone else had already been given that opportunity and I selfishly did not want to share with anyone?
There is another way to look at it that can also be valid. Could it be pride? There are others so accomplished that I feel I might never measure up. Well, I have decided to stop arguing with "myself" (?) and put my thoughts out here for better or for worse. I hope you will find faith, hope and love here… a glimpse of our Almighty Father.
Phil 3: 12-14 - 12 I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. 13 No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. (New Living Translation)

Yea! So glad to see your blog up and running, Rachel. I'll look forward to the things of God that you'll be sharing with us.
