The Frog and The Wig

This is just a little story I wrote as an exercise once.  The direction was to write a story about a frog with a wig.  So I wrote one.  The message?  You decide.  Is there a message or is it just a story?

Once upon a time there was a frog.  She was a beautiful frog . . . as frogs go.
One beautiful spring day she was sitting on her favorite lily pad basking in the admiring glances of the other frogs.  Unexpectedly they, the frogs, heard laughter and looked at each other in wonder.  Then they saw them, two young girls, sisters.  The girls were looking for fairies, leprechauns, and four leaf clovers.  When they tired they sat down near the pond.  The younger ask the older to tell her the story of the princess with long hair.
So began the tale of a lonely princess in a tower.
A handsome prince became very curious when he heard a story about a beautiful princess locked in the tower just outside town.   So one day he stopped by and called out, ”Hey Princess come to the window so I talk to you.”   As the princess looked down from the tower and she fell in love with the prince at first sight . . . and he loved her.  The prince came to the tower every day until the day the princess said, “My hair has gotten really long.  I wonder if you could use it to climb up here so we can be together.”  The prince said, “Well, throw it down here and let’s see.”  So she did.  Her hair reached all the way to the ground.   The handsome prince climbed up to the tower window.  Where he helped the princess escape and they lived happily ever after.
The frog pictured the princess and her beautiful hair.  “I think it would be quite wonderful to have long beautiful hair.”  She had never thought much about hair because frogs are bald you know.  She swam over to where there was some long grass growing just under the surface of the water.  The grass was long and silky.  She gathered some and went back to her lily pad where she weaved it in to a wig of sorts and arranged it on her head.
The other frogs had hidden when they saw the little girls and began to return now that the girls were gone.  When the frogs saw their friend they wondered what the little girls could have to done to put that grass on her head and asked her, ”What happened to you!  You have a mess of grass on your head?  Don’t worry we will help you get it off.”
She smiled and said, “No need.” And with a giggle pulled the grass wig off her head and dropped it in the water.  She told her friends some day she would tell them the story of the princess with the long hair.  Then she jumped in the water laughing and splashing her friends,  saying “Come on let’s before it gets dark and we have to go home.”
As the frogs jumped in to the water and raced to the other side of the pond, she smiled because she was still a beautiful frog . . . as frogs go.
